President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reviewed the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to develop the Egyptian airports and enhance their operational systems in line with the latest international standards.
This review came in two separate meetings the President held on Tuesday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El Hefny.
Then the president held a second meeting with minister El Hefny, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Walid Aref, Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority Major General Khaled Abdullah, and Chairperson of EgyptAir Ground Services Company, Suheir Abdullah, Presidency Spokesperson Mohamed El Shennawy said.
The discussions addressed developments of the Terminal 4 project at Cairo International Airport, which aims to increase passenger and aircraft handling capacity.

The two meetings also followed up projects to upgrade and improve the efficiency of the Cairo, Luxor, Alexandria and Alamein airports, as well as plans to build a new passenger terminal at the Capital International Airport and establish the St Catherine and Arish international airports.
In addition, the meetings reviewed developments related to offering the management and operation of the Egyptian airports to the private sector, as well as efforts to attract more local and foreign investment into promising the aviation sector, Spokesman El Shennawy added.
The discussions further touched on the activities of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, and the financial results of EgyptAir Holding Company for the FY 2024/2025.
The meetings also reviewed efforts to implement digital transformation, mainly at the Cairo International Airport, through initiatives carried out by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Civil Aviation Authority and affiliated companies.
These initiatives aim to improve internal operational efficiency and upgrade services provided to the public by facilitating procedures and offering advanced digital services, El Shennawy noted.
The meetings followed up the ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Interior to activate electronic passport gates to streamline travel procedures and enhance the passenger experience on all flights in the coming period, as well as to finalise the procedures for replacing paper cards, the spokesman said.

Moreover, the discussions addressed the status of EgyptAir’s fleet, as well as the impact of the ongoing war in the region on Egyptian airlines, including cancelled flights and overall air traffic in Egypt.
They further reviewed the steps being taken to develop and upgrade EgyptAir Ground Services Company, in line with presidential directives to improve services offered to travelers. Modernisation work at the transit hotel in Terminal 3 of Cairo International Airport was also reviewed.
President Sisi stressed that the development of the national carrier EgyptAir is a top priority, El Shennawy said.
The president also underscored the need to implement a comprehensive vision aimed at expanding the airline’s fleet, improving operational efficiency, enhancing the quality of passenger services, adhering to environmental standards and increasing profitability, while upgrading operational systems within airports to raise the level of services.
