President attends 41st Armed Forces cultural symposium on Martyrs Day

Thanks to martyrs’ sacrifices, Egypt managed to face challenges, continue development process

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, attended on Tuesday the 41st cultural symposium organised by the Armed Forces to commemorate Martyr’s Day under the theme “Noble People”.

The event took place at Al-Manara International Conference Centre in New Cairo in the presence of senior state officials, military and police commanders, and the families of martyred heroes.

According to the Presidency Spokesman, the symposium featured documentary films highlighting the bravery and sacrifices of the Armed Forces.

During the event, President El Sisi honoured the families of martyrs and the veterans injured in combat in recognition of their sacrifices for the nation’s security and stability.

Addressing the Symposium, President El Sisi expressed his deep appreciation for the martyrs’ sacrifices and reaffirmed Egypt’s resilience in the face of challenges.

“Each year, my happiness knows no bounds as I stand among you to send a heartfelt message to our valiant martyrs, whose sacrifices have become a beacon of honour and patriotism. Their heroism ensures the survival of our nation and safeguards its future. Throughout history, Egypt has proven its unyielding strength, overcoming obstacles with determination and unity. Our country has always been built by men who achieved the impossible and strengthened our national cohesion,” the President said.

Sisi added that this year’s commemoration is of particular significance because it coincides with the 10th of Ramadan, the anniversary of Egypt’s historic military victory in the October War. He noted that this occasion serves as a reminder of the unity and cohesion between the people and the military, which led to triumph and national pride.

“Our martyrs did not merely sacrifice their lives; they paved the way for Egypt’s stability and progress. Their sacrifices enabled us to continue our journey of development, allowing the nation to implement ambitious national projects that stand as a testament to Egypt’s strength and the resolve of its people,” the President said.

He highlighted that Egypt’s ongoing urban and developmental advancements – including the construction of new cities and mega infrastructure projects – were made possible through the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes.

Reaffirming the state’s commitment to supporting the families of the martyrs, President Sisi stressed that Egypt will never forget its loyal sons.

“Their families have not only lost loved ones but have given the nation its most precious gifts. Egypt will always stand by them, ensuring they receive the honour and support they deserve,” the President said.

He added that the Armed Forces will remain the shield and sword of this great nation, standing firm against any threats to our security and sovereignty.

Addressing the current global and regional challenges, the President highlighted Egypt’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause, reaffirming that a just solution lies in the establishment of a Palestinian state and rejecting any form of forced displacement of Palestinians from their homeland.

“Egypt has always maintained a principled and unwavering position —justice must be achieved, and the Palestinian people must not be displaced under any pretext. Our commitment to this cause reflects the deep awareness of the Egyptian people and their steadfast support for justice and stability,” El-Sisi said.

He concluded his speech with a message of solidarity to the Palestinian people, assuring them of Egypt’s continuous support in their struggle for their rightful cause.
