ST. PETERSBURG – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday reiterated Egypt’s support of all endeavors aiming at settling the Russian-Ukrainian crisis peacefully in order to put an end to current humanitarian crisis and negative economic repercussions of the crisis on developing and African nations.
During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sisi expressed keenness to foster Egypt’s cooperation with Russia, stressing that the Russia-Africa Summit will have great results, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
President Sisi expressed his appreciation for the clear Russian support with regard to the establishment of El Dabaa nuclear power plant, describing the project as giant and pioneering. He also praised the Russian industrial zone project in Egypt.
The Egyptian president also greeted his Russian counterpart on the 80th anniversary of the establishment of relations between both countries.
Putin underlined the importance of maintaining coordination with President Sisi towards different regional and international issues of common interest.
He also expressed appreciation for Egypt role as a cornerstone of security and stability in the Middle East.
He also praised Sisi’s efforts in launching the first edition of the Russian-Egyptian summit during Egypt’s presidency of the African Union in 2019.
The spokesman said the two leaders tackled a number of issues, including Dabaa nuclear plant, Russian industrial zone, cooperation in the transport domain as well as counter-terrorism efforts.
