Congo Brazzaville’s Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development Arlette Soudan-Nonault handed over Saturday Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry a message to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi from President Denis Sassou Nguesso on ways of boosting bilateral ties and joint consultation and coordination between the two countries ahead of COP27.
That came during talks that brought together Shoukry, who is President-Designate of the 27th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) to the UN Framework Climate Change Convention and the Congolese minister.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said the talks tackled ongoing preparations for COP27, slated for November in Sharm El-Sheikh.
Shoukry asserted the Egyptian presidency of the conference seeks to achieve fruitful outcomes that would boost international climate action at all levels.
The conference is an important station as far as implementation of climate pledges and obligations is concerned, he added.
Abu Zeid added the Congolese minister voiced her appreciation for Egypt’s hosting of the conference.
