Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed that Egypt looks forward to activating the frameworks of joint cooperation with Mauritania at various levels, especially in development sectors, where Egyptian companies gained great experience over the past years. The President reiterated Egypt’s keenness to provide assistance in developing and building Mauritanian capacities and cadres in all fields.

The President’s remarks came as he received yesterday Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad,Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk in the presence of Foreign Minister SamehShoukri and Chargé D’affairs of the Mauritanian Embassy in Cairo, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said.

For his part, the Mauritanian minister handed President Sisi a written message from the Mauritanian president Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.

President OuldGhazouaniexpressed Mauritania’s great appreciation for Egypt’s leadership and people and for its pioneering role on the Arab and African levels.

He also affirmed keenness to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields and to benefit from the remarkable development experience realized by Egypt over the past years.

The meeting also witnessed an exchange of views on a number of Arab and regional issues, within the framework of the two countries’ keenness to promote and advance joint Arab action.

Earlier in the day yesterday, the Mauritanian foreign minister held a meeting with the Egyptian foreign minister.

During the meeting, Minister Shoukri referred to the continuous development in relations between Egypt and Mauritania, noting that he looks forward to convening the joint higher committee at the level of the two foreign ministers as soon as possible.

He also expressed Egypt’s keenness to enhance economic cooperation between with Mauritania in various fields and to increase the volume of trade exchange and investments, especially in marine fishing, agriculture, fish and animal wealth sectors as well as the pharmaceutical industry.

Foreign Minister Shoukri also stressed the importance of continuing cooperation between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism.

He, meanwhile, asserted Egypt’s openness to provide technical support to Mauritania in various sectors, including industry, health and education. In this respect, he highlighted the existing cooperation between the two countries in the field of university education and scholarships offered to Mauritanian students at Egyptian universities and Al-Azhar.

The two ministers also discussed a number of regional files of mutual interest, most notably the situation in Sudan, Libya and Syria.

For his part, the Mauritanian Foreign Minister expressed great appreciation for the bilateral relations between the two countries and Mauritania’s keenness to continue to push forward cooperation with Egypt in various fields.

The two ministers agreed to continue working jointly towards advancing relations between Egypt and Mauritania to broader horizons.
