Egypt is greatly concerned with boosting co-operation with the US, particularly at the security and intelligence levels, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Sunday.
This is of big importance, Sisi said during a meeting with director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William Burns earlier Sunday.
Sisi and Burns reviewed a number of regional files, atop of which tension in the Middle East and the situation in Afghanistan.
Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said the meeting also took up the latest Palestinian developments, the Libyan crisis, and the Renaissance Dam of Ethiopia.
Sisi asked Burns to convey his best regards to US President Joe Biden, Rady added.
For his part, Burns praised constructive cooperation and close relations between Washington and Cairo, especially in light of challenges in the Middle East and Africa.
He greatly appreciated efforts exerted by Sisi in support of regional security and stability, believing Egypt does strike a balance in terms of security in the whole region.
