Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to review regional conditions, especially in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories in general, in light of the escalating political and humanitarian situation, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said.
Sisi reviewed the Egyptian efforts to push for a ceasefire to protect civilians and prevent further escalation of the tragic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
Sisi tackled Egypt’s intensive efforts to ensure access of the largest possible amount of humanitarian assistance into the enclave.
The two leaders agreed on the importance of proceeding with serious efforts to cease fire, stressing that the international community should shoulder its responsibility in this regard, the spokesman said.
They asserted the importance of rallying up international efforts to reach just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian cause under the two-state solution in order to establish an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the international resolutions.
