CAIRO – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi lauded Thursday distinguished ties binding Egypt and Greece.

During an expanded video conference meeting held with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, President Sisi highlighted growing cooperation between the two countries in the various domains, along with bilateral political coordination vis-à-vis a host of issues of mutual concern.

President Sisi voiced, during the expanded video conference meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis appreciation of Greece’s stand toward Egypt, whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of the European Union (EU), that in turn
reflects the depth of Egyptian-Greek relations, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi.

The governors of the Central Bank of Egypt and the European Investment Bank, as well as a number of Egyptian and Greek ministers took part in the meeting, the spokesman said.

Talks touched upon promoting energy co-operation, mainly in the power linkage and natural gas spheres, along with the various climate change sectors, green hydrogen and solar energy fields, especially in light of Egypt’s hosting of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC, set for Sharm el-Sheikh in November, he added.
