President Abdel Fattah El Sisi instructed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar to follow up on the health condition of renowned Egyptian composer Omar Khairat and to ensure he receives due medical support during his stay in hospital.

The president also directed that detailed reports on Khairat’s condition be submitted until his health is fully stabilised.

President Sisi’s directive underscores the state’s appreciation for Khairat’s artistic legacy and his significant contribution to enriching Egyptian culture and music over the years.

Khairat was admitted to hospital on Sunday suffering from a sudden health problem caused by a severe chest infection that led to lung inflammation and airway constriction.

He was placed in the intensive care unit for one day before his condition improved and he was transferred to a regular room.

His manager, Nevin Nazif, confirmed that he is recovering steadily and is expected to be discharged in the coming days.

All upcoming concerts have been postponed until Khairat makes a full recovery.Khairat is considered one of the most influential musical figures in the Arab World.

Born on 11 November 1948 in Cairo, he hails from a distinguished artistic family: His uncle, Abu Bakr Khairat, founded the Cairo Conservatoire. He studied piano at the institute under prominent international professors and later pursued composition studies at Trinity College in London.

Over his decades-long career, Khairat composed iconic soundtracks for films and television series, in addition to timeless musical works that have drawn large audiences in Egypt and abroad.
