Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday held a meeting on Wednesday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and intelligent chief Abbas Kamel, together with heads of the civil society organisations members of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work (NACDW).
The meeting reviewed the NACDW activities since the alliance was launched earlier this year, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
The NACDW includes 24 non-governmental organisations, in addition to the Decent Life Foundation, and the General Federation of NGOs.
Participants reviewed the alliance’s efforts in charitable and development work nationwide, within the framework of the social protection system and the social support offered by the state to help the target groups in coordination and co-operation between the government and the civil society organisations, Radi noted.
President Sisi highly appreciated the social activities of the NACDW, which comprises the leading civil society organisations and associations, which are known for their efforts and successful experiences in assisting limited income segments nationwide.
The alliance is a pillar in the social protection system in light of the present economic circumstances, which affected several sectors, especially food. It also supports Egypt’s non-stop development efforts, which include the recent social support package as directed by President Sisi.
President Sisi gave orders to increase the government’s support to the alliance by additional one billion Egyptian pounds to support its activities, considering that 2022 is the year of the civil society, and as part of the efforts to carry on with the social protection work through providing various sorts of social assistance, Spokesman Radi said.
In addition, the president gave directives for the development of NACDW’s charitable and development work to go beyond direct in-kind assistance, to include operational activities such as offering job opportunities, boosting production and realising tangible economic returns for people, Radi said.
