CAIRO – Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday directed the bodies concerned to form a committee of legal and judicial experts specialized in family-related issues to draft a Muslim personal status bill.
During a meeting with Justice Minister Omar Marawan earlier today, Sisi noted that the new law must take into account the interests of all the parties concerned, in such a manner that helps address family as well as community-related concerns, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.
Sisi instructed officials at relevant state bodies, including the interior ministry, the Public Prosecution, the Administrative Control Authority, and the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) to the above-mentioned committee with all the accurate data and information it needs to accomplish its mission in a professional and objective manner.
Meanwhile, Marawan posted the president on the ministry’s efforts for improving the family justice system to ensure social stability and safeguard the rights of every family member, the spokesman said.
The minister also highlighted judges’ strenuous efforts to ensure speedy delivery of justice. On that score, Sisi directed that a new medal be adopted for heads and members of judicial bodies, including those who died, in recognition of their outstanding judicial service.(MENA)
