Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the Pentagon headquarters in Washington.
Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said that Austin expressed his appreciation for Sisi’s efforts to achieve security, stability and calm not only in the Middle East and Africa, but also at the world level and to address all kinds of international issues and crises, praising Egypt’s historical role in spreading and upholding a culture of peace and coexistence in the region.
For his part, president Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness to enhance its strategic partnership with the US, especially at the military and security levels in light of the exceptional circumstances the region and the whole world are witnessing.
Both sides agreed to strengthen their close coordination on issues of mutual concern, regional security challenges, and opportunities to strengthen the decades-long bilateral defense partnership.
