CAIRO – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with King Abdullah II of Jordan before the launch of
the Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Monday.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy said the meeting focused on developments in the region as well as Egypt and Jordan’s efforts to achieve calm and enforce a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
The two leaders warned against the perilous escalatory policies which push the region to the brink.
President Sisi and King Abdullah II underscored the alignment of Egypt and Jordan’s positions with regard to their categorical rejection of any forced displacement and the liquidation of the Palestinian issue.
They reiterated the critical need for the international community to adopt earnest steps toward ending the war in the region and launching the path of peace, based on the two-state solution.
