KAZAN, Russia – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, which kicked off here on Wednesday.
The Egyptian presidential spokesman said the two leaders agreed during the meeting on the importance of intensifying joint efforts to explore means to develop relations.
According to the spokesman, the two leaders exchanged viewpoints on regional developments as President Sisi called for de-escalation to stave off more tensions that pose threats to regional security and stability.
He added that President Sisi reviewed with the Iranian leader Egyptian good offices to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon to prevent a possible humanitarian disaster for civilians in Gaza and Lebanon.
