CAIRO -Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi launched the COMESA Medium-Term Strategic Plan 2021-2025.
In his closing speech at the 21st Summit of the COMESA’s Heads of State and Government, which kicked off Tuesday at Egypt’s New Administrative Capital (NAC), the president said the launching of this strategy reflects the genuine will and firm resolve of member states to deepen economic integration and achieve economic development.
He added that regional economic integration could be attained through adopting the best policies on the liberation of trade, upgrading infrastructure, bringing about industrial development and luring further investments into the region.
The president called for taking measures that enable the bloc to fully implement the Free Trade Agreement, which could help increase productivity and promote industrial integration among member states.
The president asserted that achieving the highest degrees of regional economic integration requires COMESA member states to remove all obstacles to the private sector and the business community, for their vital and effective role in promoting intra-trade movement among the bloc’s countries.
The president emphasized Egypt’s full support of all African countries in their quest for achieving regional and continental economic integration.
