Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday Senate Speaker of the Parliament of Equatorial Guinea, Teresa Efua Asangono.
The meeting was attended by Egypts Senate President, Abdel Wahab Abdel Razek, and Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry.
President Sisi praised what he described as ‘distinguished relations’ between Egypt and Equatorial Guinea, Presidency Spokesman, Ahmed Fahmi, said.
He added that the president highlighted Egypt’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with Equatorial Guinea in various fields, both at the bilateral and continental levels, especially with regard to promoting intra-African trade and investments, and maintaining continental peace and security.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Equatorial Guinea’s Senate delivered a letter to President Sisi from President Teodoro Obiang, in which he expressed deep appreciation for Egypt and the Egyptian leadership. He also valued continuous progress in the course of relations between the two countries, and looked forward to strengthening bilateral relations at various levels. This is in light of Egypt’s efforts to meet the aspirations of the African peoples towards stability, development and prosperity and Egypt’s effective contribution to advancing joint African action.
Fahmi noted that the president’s meeting with Asangonodwelt on ways to enhance bilateral relations, especially at the parliamentary level, in addition to increasing Egyptian investments in Equatorial Guinea.
President Sisi andSpeaker President Asangono also discussed increasing trade exchange between Egypt and Equatorial Guinea and means of supporting its development and capacity buildingin Equatorial Guinea in various sectors, Fahmi said.
