Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Egypt’s Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, attended the meeting alongside Pakistani Ambassador to Egypt Aamir Shouket.
Mirza conveyed greetings of the Pakistani premier to President Sisi, lauding the continued development in bilateral ties, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed Shennawy said.
The meeting discussed ways of promoting bilateral cooperation, especially in military and security fields, alongside exchanging expertise in combating terrorism and extremism.
The meeting also tackled the latest developments in the Middle East region, especially Egypt’s efforts to clinch a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip.
The conferees underlined the importance of the international community shouldering its responsibilities to end the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinians in the enclave and ensure the delivery of necessary aid.
The meeting also reaffirmed the necessity of encouraging more countries to recognize the independent Palestinian state as a guarantee for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
The meeting also reviewed the developments in South Asia as well as efforts to enhance stability in the region.
