Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Jordanian King Abdullah II affirmed the firm position of Egypt and Jordan toward the Palestinian cause, stressing that achieving stability in the region will only be attained when the international community deals with the Palestinian issue from an integrated perspective that preserves the rights of the Palestinian people, through resolving their problem in accordance with the terms of reference of international legitimacy which stipulate the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
This came during president Sisi’s meeting Saturday in Riyadh with the Jordanian monarch, on the sidelines of the joint Arab-Islamic summit, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
He added that the two leaders exchanged views regarding the latest developments of the unprecedented military escalation in the Gaza Strip and the continuing deterioration of the security and humanitarian conditions and the loss of the lives of many innocent Palestinian civilians inside the besieged enclave.
They agreed on the importance of continuing to coordinate joint efforts to push the international community to assume its responsibilities with regard to adopting the path of calm and ensuring the delivery of critically needed humanitarian aid and services to the people of the Gaza Strip, while emphasizing rejection of inhumane Israeli policies exposing innocent Gazans to collective punishment, siege, starvation and forced displacement in violation of International humanitarian law.
