Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call with Jordan’s King Abdullah II on the backdrop of what Egypt described as an Iranian attack on Jordanian territory, according to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency.

Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s full solidarity and support for Jordan following the attack, stressing Cairo’s strong rejection and condemnation of any infringement on the sovereignty, security and stability of Arab states. The statement warned that such violations could undermine security across the region and risk pushing it toward wider instability.

During the call, the two leaders discussed the ongoing military escalation in the region. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s longstanding position that regional crises should be resolved through peaceful means and dialogue, cautioning against the dangers of escalation for both regional and international security.

King Abdullah II expressed appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance toward Jordan’s security and stability, praising the close fraternal ties between the two countries. The two sides agreed to continue close consultations to strengthen regional security.
