Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Tuesday, during which the two leaders discussed the latest regional developments, with a particular focus on the situation in Gaza and the Palestinian territories.

Both leaders exchanged views on the ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions, with King Abdullah praising Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire deal and ensure the unfettered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. President El Sisi, in turn, commended Jordan’s efforts in the same context.

The two leaders expressed their categorical rejection of any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause or turn the Palestinian territories into uninhabitable areas or force the displacement of Palestinians. They also emphasised the urgent need to halt the conflict to prevent further humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Presidency spokesperson Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy said that both leaders warned of the dangers of the ongoing war in Gaza and the escalating violations in the West Bank, noting that these developments could expand the conflict and have negative repercussions on the entire region, as well as on international peace and security.
