Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from King Abdullah II of Jordan on Friday.
The two leaders discussed means of boosting bilateral relations and cooperation, said presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.
They also talked about the latest developments in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip and efforts to reach a ceasefire in the besieged enclave, Fahmy said.
He added that Sisi and King Abdullah tackled efforts to deliver aid to Gaza in light of the deteriorating humanitarian situation there.
They completely rejected the escalation of military operations, which will affect security and stability in the whole region, the spokesman further said.
Sisi and King Abdullah stressed the need to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian problem, insisting that this could only be achieved with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, Fahmy added.
