Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call on Thursday from Iraqi Prime Minister Moustafa Al-Kadhimi, during which the two sides discussed developments of regional issues of common concern, with focus on Afghanistan, in addition to a host of topics on bilateral co-operation.
Al-Kadhimi reaffirmed his country’s appreciation of Egypt’s efforts supporting Iraq at all levels, and Iraq’s aspiration to bolster bilateral co-operation, particularly combating common challenges, topped with countering terrorism, and achieving security, stability and development, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
For his part, President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s support to whatever that could consolidate Iraq’s security and stability, and to Al-Kadhimi’s efforts to strengthen the role of the Iraqi state institutions, as well as preserving the country’s sovereignty and Arab identity, Radi added.
President Sisi also stressed that Egypt would carry on with work to boost frameworks of co-operation with the Iraqi side in all fields, both at the bilateral level and within the mechanism of trilateral co-operation between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.
