President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson reviewed in a phone call this evening the developments of a number of regional issues, including in the foremost the situation in Libya and Ethiopia’s Nile dam file.

In his call with the UK prime minister, President Sisi reaffirmed the paramount importance of the Ethiopian dam issue, describing it as a matter of national security as well as highlighting Egypt’s sticking to its water rights through reaching a binding legal agreement that guarantees clear rules for the process of filling and operating the dam.

British Prime Minister Johnson, meanwhile, expressed his deep appreciation for the essential role that Egypt plays under the leadership of President Sisi in settling the Libyan issue and the country’s efforts in pushing forward the political path and restoring state institutions.

The two leaders also discussed ways to boost relations between the two countries in all fields, especially the economic, investment and security sectors as well as in education, health and energy.

British PM Johnson affirmed his keenness to maintain communication with President Sisi to enhance consultation and coordination on various regional and international issues in light of the role Egypt plays to support and consolidate peace and stability in the Middle East and Africa.
