President Abdel Fattah El Sisi underscored the urgency of intensifying regional and international efforts to de-escalation tensions in the Middle East, warning against further instability and the risk of broader regional disorder.
The president’s remarks came during a phone call on Wednesday with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani.
The phone discussions focused on the latest regional developments, with President Sisi reaffirming the importance of coordinated action to contain the repercussions of the ongoing conflict and prevent the region from sliding into further instability or widespread chaos, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy said.
President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm support for the security and stability of Iraq, as well as for efforts aimed at shielding the country from regional tensions and conflicts that could undermine its stability. He also stressed Egypt’s unwavering backing for the security of all Arab states. In this respect, President Sisi reaffirmed Cairo’s categorical rejection of any infringement on the sovereignty of Arab states or attempts to destabilise them or threaten their territorial integrity, the presidency spokesman said.
For his part, the Iraqi prime minister expressed appreciation for Egypt’s support for Iraq’s security and stability, highlighting measures undertaken by the Iraqi government to safeguard national sovereignty amid ongoing regional tensions.
