President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for meticulous preparations to host the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) on the Role of Women in Development, which is scheduled to convene in the New Administrative Capital on July 5.
The president also gave directives for bearing the payment of the annual contributions of the 22 least developed member-ountries (LDCs) in the budget of the “Women’s Development Organisation”, an OIC affiliate.
The directives came during President Sisi’s meeting Monday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and head of the National Council for Women Maya Morsi, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said in a statement.
The OIC’s Women’s Development Orgainsation will be headquartered in Cairo and President Sisi issued directives during yesterday’s meeting to designate independent and integrated premises for the organisation and providing it with all necessary services, Spokesman Radi said.
Elaborating on the OIC’s ministerial meeting on the role of women in development, President Sisi emphasised that convening the meeting in Cairo with fine preparations would enhance Egypt’s status in the field of woman empowerment and would also reflect the state’s remarkable efforts in issuing national legislations in support of gender equality and the empowerment of women in various state components, including in the foremost the Cabinet and the parliament.
Morsi outlined in a presentation she made during the meeting the efforts initiated to host the OIC ministerial session on women’s development, which will witness Egypt’s assumption of the presidency of the ministerial conference for the next two years
