Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the strength of Egyptian-American relations and the importance that Egypt attaches to the consolidation of the firm co-operation between the two countries in various fields, especially at the security and intelligence levels and to support efforts to restore and stabilise the Middle East in light of the challenges it is witnessing.
The president’s remarks came as he received on Monday the Director of the CIA, William J Burn, in the presence of the Head of the General Intelligence Service, Major-General Abbas Kamel, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
For his part, Mr Burns conveyed to President Sisi greeting from President Biden as well as his emphasis on the importance and strength of the Egyptian-US relations, with Washington looking forward to developing the relations of co-operation and partnership with Egypt under the leadership of President Sisi, given that Egypt is considered the centre of gravity in the Middle East and the pillar of security and stability in the region, especially at this delicate stage, which is witnessing international and regional crises, Spokesman Radi said.
The meeting features a consideration of ways to enhance security and intelligence co-operation between the two countries as well as an exchange of views on developments related to a number of international and regional issues of common concern, Spokesman Radi added.
