Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi heads for Bahrain Wednesday to take part in the 33rd session of the Arab League Council at the summit level, that will be held in Manama, the capital of Bahrain.
Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy stated that President Sisi’s participation in the summit emphasises Egypt’s commitment to coordinating with Arab brothers and unifying positions.
This comes in light of the critical phase the Arab region is experiencing and the significant challenges it faces on various levels, added the spokesman.
Fahmy said the summit will thoroughly discuss the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and efforts to resolve the current crisis to stop the bloodshed of Palestinian brothers and protect the strip from the humanitarian catastrophe it is facing.
This situation has worsened with the ongoing Israeli military operation in the Palestinian city of Rafah, necessitating a clear stance from the international community against this move, he said.
The summit will also address the situations in several Arab countries and how to restore stability in the region amidst major crises, especially with the rapid changes on international and regional levels, according to him.
Additionally, there will be a focus on monitoring Arab joint efforts to support the development trajectory for the benefit of all Arab peoples, he added.
President Sisi is scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings with his Arab counterparts on the sidelines of the summit to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and mechanisms for joint coordination, said Fahmy.
