Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi headed on Thursday to Dubai to take part in the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28).
The president’s participation in the summit comes at an invitation from UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose country will chair the COP in succession of Egypt, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said.
President Sisi will focus during the Dubai summit on efforts exerted by Egypt during its presidency of COP27 in November 2022, which concentrated on issues of concern to developing countries in general and African countries in particular.
COP27 focused on bolstering international climate action, as well as enhancing commitments of advanced countries under the Paris Agreement on climate change, the spokesman added.
During the visit, the president will also hold talks with a number of heads of state and government on promoting the frameworks of bilateral cooperation, consultation and exchange of views on various regional and international issues.
