Gov’t called to end problem of loan defaulting
State keen on balance of new family affairs law
Government works hard to release all the indebted women and pay off their debts.
The President urged the separated parents to positively talk about each other before their children to keep their spirits up.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has hailed Egyptian women and praised their role in the success of the state policies, urging state bodies concerned to boost women participation in high-profile posts and eliminate discrimination against them.
During a ceremony to honor Egyptian women on the occasion of “Mothers’ Day” at Al Manara International Conference Center in New Cairo Sunday, the President depicted the Egyptian women as the champions who helped in the success of state policies.
The president said that he has been giving priority to women’s issues since he took office, adding the role of women in sustainable development became an example to follow in all sectors and also at international gatherings.
In a speech to the ceremony, President Sisi called on the House of Deputies (parliament) to accelerate the enactment of an independent legislation to determine the legal age of marriage so as to prevent child marriage.
The speech contained directives to the Ministry of Finance to take all measures required to bring to an end the phenomenon of women loan defaulters. In this connection, the President urged the ministry to coordinate with the parties concerned to settle all issues related to women debt defaulters.
He, in the meantime, called on the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development as well as the National Council for Women to support the participation of women in leading posts and boards of public and private establishments.
The President also called on the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to consider measures aiming at preventing discrimination against women while granting loans to empower women, especially female breadwinners, economically.
In a post on his social media pages, the President also greeted Egyptian mother, saying that they are life’s key and the nation’s conscience.
The President said:” I congratulate all Egyptian mothers for embodying the finest values of overwhelming kindness that bears warmth and safety full of strength, determination and steadfastness.”
“All respect and appreciation to you. You are life’s key,” the President said, concluding, “Stay blessed.”
Also in his speech, President emphasised that the state is keen on drafting the personal affairs law in a balanced manner through a societal dialogue.
He also stressed that the law will be characterized by even-handedness towards both separated parents.
On the Countryside Upgrading Project, the President said that the state will pump nearly 150 billion to 200 billion pounds to upgrade 1,500 villages nationwide as part of the Decent Life initiative, he said.
The initiative, he reiterated, aims at improving the living conditions for 55 million to 60 million people, topped by Egyptian women.
On the coronavirus crisis, the President said that the state spares no effort to provide the Covid-19 vaccines, calling on citizens to abide by the precautionary measures and limit gatherings during the holy fasting month of Ramadan to curb the spread of the virus.
