CAIRO- Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday sent a cable of greetings to former Cypriot foreign minister Nikos Christodoulides on his election as the new Cyprus president.
In his cable, Sisi greeted him on winning the presidential elections held on Sunday, and wished him success in achieving more progress and prosperity for his country.
He said “Egypt and Cyprus have extended historical relations based on civilizational and rich humanitarian values along with strategic interests due to their geographical proximity, noting that the two countries have constantly been cooperating in the face of common challenges to achieve stability, security and prosperity in the region.”
Sisi said he is looking forward to pursuing active coordination and consultation with the Cypriot leadership for the sake of enhancing partnership.
The Egyptian president also voiced his deep appreciation for outgoing Cypriot president Nicos Anastasiades on the pivotal role he played during his term in strengthening friendship ties between Egypt and Cyprus, wishing him the best of luck in the future.
