Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi praised on Tuesday the sacrifices made by the armed forces and the police to protect the Sinai Peninsula in the war against occupation and terrorism over the past years.
“Our generation and future generations pledge to protect what you have achieved with vigilance and attention, constant readiness, more work, development and progress,” the President said in a speech he gave during the celebration of the 41st anniversary of the Sinai Liberation Day.
In his remarks, Sisi said that the Sinai Peninsula embodies a long history of the struggle of the Egyptian people, enduring invaders, being the focus of attention of the greedy and the first target in the fiercest and most dangerous wave of terrorism in the country’s entire history.
The President added that the twenty-fifth of April every year would remain a memorable day.
“In the history of our nation, it represents a day that we are proud of, of the glorious October War, and the long march of peace and diplomacy, embodying the will of a people that refused to live in the shadow of defeat,” the president said.
He added that the liberation of Sinai was the liberation of Egyptian dignity and a victory for solidity, willpower, endurance, good planning, preparation and implementation.
“On this day, we salute our appreciation and reverence, in the name of Egypt and its people to the heroic president, Mohamed Anwar Sadat, the leader of war and peace, who made the most difficult decisions, in the most accurate times, and in the darkest days to restore the land and dignity and start the path of peace and development,” Sisi added.
The President also highlighted that Egypt has embarked on projects aimed at developing Sinai.
These projects, the President said, require huge efforts and patience in order to provide Sinai with a new reality, worthy of it and the sacrifices of all Egyptians.
“Egypt is on its way towards goodness, peace and development, for the benefit of its people,” the president said.
