President stresses importance of ending war, seeking peaceful solutions

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call today from Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

According to the Presidency Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the call addressed the current regional developments.

President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s categorical rejection of Iranian attacks on Arab countries, stressing Egypt’s full support for the security and sovereignty of sisterly states.

He also underscored the importance of ending the ongoing war and working toward peaceful solutions that preserve the resources of peoples and achieve stability in the region.

For his part, the Greek prime minister agreed with President Sisi’s views, warning of the negative repercussions of the ongoing war on regional stability and the global economy.

He also affirmed his country’s keenness—particularly in light of its current membership in the United Nations Security Council—to listen closely to Egypt’s perspective in order to avoid further escalation.

The spokesperson added that the call also touched on developments in Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

President Sisi stressed the need to implement the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza in all its components, including the unfettered entry of humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities, as well as the launch of early recovery reconstruction process in Gaza.

The call also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Greece.

President Sisi expressed his appreciation for the steady progress in the multifaceted relations between the two countries and emphasised the importance of intensifying coordination both bilaterally and on regional issues of mutual interest, particularly in light of current developments.

Prime Minister Mitsotakis, in turn, expressed pride in the momentum witnessed in relations between the two countries and voiced appreciation for President Sisi’s efforts in this regard.

Both sides agreed to continue and intensify political consultation and coordination at various levels in the coming period.
