DUBLIN – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has pressed for continued action to promote comprehensive human rights in Egypt.
The State is committed to ensuring a decent and stable life for Egyptians, upholding their rights, and reinforcing the principles of citizenship, rule of law, and non-discrimination, Sisi said during a meeting with Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty earlier Wednesday.
More effort should be exerted to raise awareness of human rights at all state institutions and enhance public understanding of rights and duties, Sisi directed. He stressed the importance of further developing the legislative and institutional frameworks needed to support this approach.
Abdelatty, who doubles as head of the Supreme Standing Committee for Human Rights in Egypt (SSCHR), reviewed the third executive report on the national strategy for human rights, said presidential spokesman Mohamed el-Shennawy.
The report highlighted progress made over the past year in terms of advancing comprehensive human rights (civil, political, economic, social, and cultural) and strengthening the rights of women, youth, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, Shennawy noted.
