Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday chaired a meeting that followed up the latest developments of efforts to evacuate Egyptian nationals from Sudan, and facilitating their unstymied return to the homeland.
Attending the meeting were Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Defence and Military Production General Mohamed Zaki, Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Abbas Kamel, Minister of the Interior Mahmoud Tawfik, and Minister of Transport Kamel el-Wazir, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
The meeting featured a review of the intensive efforts exerted by all state agencies to organise the influx of people across the border into Egypt, be they Egyptians or Sudanese, as well as within the framework of assisting in the evacuation of nationals of various countries.
In the course of the review, President Sisi gave directives for guaranteeing the safe return of Egyptian nationals from Sudan, the spokesman said.
The directives, he added, also called for the provision of all necessary relief, medical and food services at land crossings between the two countries, in light of Egypt’s role of standing beside the Sudanese people in the crisis they are currently passing through.
Reference was also made in this connection to Egypt’s relentless efforts to push for a peaceful solution to the crisis in a way that restores security and stability in Sudan, Spokesman Fahmy said.
