CAIRO – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has received a phone call from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, which touched on the latest developments of the situation in the Gaza Strip, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
Sisi reviewed Egypt’s strenuous efforts to push for a cease-fire to protect civilians in light of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, highlighting its endeavors to provide and deliver relief aid to Gaza’s population and evacuate foreign nationals.
In this regard, the German chancellor expressed great appreciation for the Egyptian role, emphasizing Germany’s position as regards the necessity of protecting civilians and bringing in aid.
The two sides discussed ways to achieve security and stability in the region, with President Sisi stressing that the two-state solution is the path towards just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
