Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna. The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry.
The president applauded continuous development of relations between Egypt and France at the official level between the leaderships and at the popular level, Presidency Spokesman, Ahmed Fahmi said.
Both sides stressed mutual keenness to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation frameworks across various fields and supporting joint efforts to achieve development and prosperity and combat terrorism and illegal immigration. This is in addition to continuing political coordination.
The French minister expressed appreciation for the balanced and rational approach of the Egyptian foreign policy, especially when it comes to resolving crises and establishing stability and peace in the region, Fahmi said.
President Sisi also underscored the importance Egypt attaches to strengthening cooperation with France, especially with regard to the transfer of expertise, technology and joint manufacturing, in addition to enhancing cooperation in the energy, transport and environment sectors, and coordinating efforts to address the negative repercussions of the current international political situation, especially with regard to the global rise in food, energy and finance prices.
Discussions between President Sisi and Minister Colonna focused on regional issues of common interest, primarily the developments of the Palestinian issue and ways to revive the peace process, Fahmi said.
The meeting also discussed efforts to resolve the crises in a number of countries in the region, especially in Sudan and Libya, in addition to the situation in the Sahel region.
President Sisi said Egypt would continue to exert utmost efforts to reach political and peaceful solutions to existing crises, in a way that contributes to the restoration of regional security and stability, and preserving the capabilities of peoples and their aspirations for a better future, the presidency spokesman said.
