Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed to finalize all works of the Delta road network within the coming year in view of its importance for development, facilitating trade and individual movement, linking agricultural, urban and industrial areas, and shortening the travel time between Delta governorates in accordance with the Decent Life initiative for developing Egypt’s countryside.
President Sisi held a meeting on Saturday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir.
Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed also attended the meeting alongside Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Hisham Sweifi.
The meeting reviewed the progress realized so far in implementing a number of transport projects, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
The transport minister shed light on ongoing efforts to develop the railways system nationwide, especially the executive status of the first line of the express electric train (Ain Sokhna/ Alamein/Mersa Matrouh).
The minister reviewed cooperation with Deutsche Bahn for managing and operating the three lines of the express electric train.
A national company named – Deutsche Bahn Egypt – will be set up soon, he said, noting that the German company is training Egyptian cadres.
The talks also tackled the progress realized so far in establishing the new Bashtil railway station in accordance with international standards.
The talks also took up the ongoing development of ports nationwide as well as the road network and traffic axes.
