President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of management and maintenance works in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) and also for the completion of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in a way that reflects the uniqueness and graciousness of the Ancient Egyptian civilisation.

The president’s remarks and directives to this effect came during a meeting he called with senior aides on Sunday to review the progress of infrastructure and public utility projects now under way in the NAC as well as the development of works to accomplish the GEM project, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and the Cabinet ministers of electricity, tourism and antiquities, communications and information technology, and housing and public utilities took part in the meeting.

Also joining the meeting were the presidential advisor on urban planning, the presidential advisor on financial affairs, the board chairman of the New Administrative Capital Company, the head of the Armed Forces Engineering authority, the authority’s deputy head for GEM project, and the head of the Armed Forces Information Systems department.

The presentations made by participants covered the progress of works to construct and install equipment in the NAC’s districts and utilities, the electric feed facilities, the communications systems, the informatics infrastructure and various aspects of digital services, Spokesman Radi said.

In the light of these presentations, President Sisi issued directives for setting out an integrated plan to enhance the management and maintenance system for the NAC’s neighbourhoods and facilities. He also directed that the aspired plan be draft in a way that ensures and guarantees the sustainability and efficiency of management and operation.

The meeting also included a follow-up of the executive position of the GEM project and the pace of carrying out completion works especially with regard to the main halls and galleries, and the plan of transferring and placing artifacts in their permanent display spots in the museum.

In this connection, the president urged that GEM’s installations come out in the fullest manner and at the highest level so as to highlight the uniqueness and graciousness of the ancient Egyptian civilization and befit the value of the museum which is drawing wide global attention as a cultural icon for all humanity.

President Sisi then reviewed the latest scene of the flow of tourism, including the Tourism Ministry’s preparations for the winter season, Spokesman Radi said.
