Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt highly appreciates the European Union as a key partner in various domains, especially as Egypt is taking stable strides towards development under an ambitious future vision.
He noted that Egypt has friendly, historical as well as deeply-rooted ties at the economic, political and cultural levels with the EU member states.
He made the remarks on Wednesday during a joint press conference with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
He welcomed the EU Commission president for her first official visit to Egypt, noting that this falls within the framework of keenness on consultations and exchanging views on means of furthering partnership and co-operation in various domains.
Sisi also underlined the importance of promoting fruitful coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern within the framework of efforts to achieve security, stability and development.
The president said Egypt seeks to realise a leap in partnership with the EU, especially in light of the hard political and economic conditions through which the world is passing.
He noted that Egypt seeks to enhance co-operation with the EU, especially in the fields of clean energy, food security, digitisation, agriculture, irrigation and vaccines manufacturing.
He added that Egypt is looking forward to boosting EU investments in Egypt as well as trilateral co-operation between Egypt, EU and partners in Africa.
