Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday received the visiting Iraqi Speaker of Parliament Mohammed Al-Halboosi. Attending the meeting were House of Deputies (Parliament) Speaker Hanafy El Gebaly and Iraq’s Ambassador to Cairo Ahmed Al-Dulaimi
Welcoming Al-Halboosi, President Sisi conveyed greetings to Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
During the meeting, President Sisi stressed the specialty of the Egyptian Iraqi ties, and Cairo’s keenness on continuing work to boost bilateral co-operation in all fields and at the various official and popular levels, spokesman Fahmi said.
The president pointed to the current momentum bilateral ties enjoy at present and the exchange of visits by senior officials, whether at the bilateral level or through the tripartite co-operation mechanism with the Jordan.
For his part, the Iraqi parliament chief conveyed greetings from President Rashid and Premier al-Sudani to the Egyptian leader, and underlined Iraq’s pride in the close relations with Egypt, Al-Halboosi.
Al-Halboosi also highly appreciated Egypt’s role for stability in Iraq, and the country’s contributions for shoring up security, stability, and development at the regional level, as well as bolstering Arab unity.
He voiced hopes for carrying on with promoting co-operation in all field, with focus on parliamentary ties, as well as benefiting from Egypt’s expertise in building and developing state institutions in Iraq, Fahmy added.
Meanwhile, President Sisi and the Iraqi Speaker discussed means of bolstering bilateral relations, especially including parliamentary ties, in addition to consulting over latest developments at the regional level.
