Egypt has always been keen on upholding its national role of backing the path of joint Arab action, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said, adding that the Egyptian government and people would maintain support to all Arab issues in order to ensure stability and development of peoples in the region.
This came in a speech delivered by Manpower Minister Hassan Shehata on Monday on behalf of president Sisi at the 49th session of the Arab Labour Conference, which is currently being organized by Arab Labor Organisation (ALO) and runs till May 29 in Cairo.
Representatives of the three Arab labour parties – namely labour ministers and unions of business owners and labourers – are present at the conference which is being held under the theme “Social Dialogue: Present Challenges, Prospects of Future”.
Egypt seeks achieving serious and constant partnership among the Arab countries through promoted joint action and social dialogue alongside utilising Arab natural and human resources in the aspired development process, the president said in his speech.
The unfolding global crises and challenges require prioritising joint Arab action, accelerating the achievement of Arab economic integration as well joining forces toward attaining a comprehensive development, Sisi added.
The president said the conference coincides with the launch of the National Dialogue sessions with an ad-hoc committee on labour issues, in line with the importance the state attaches to the social dialogue in the labour domain.
He voiced hope that the outcomes of the conference would include recommendations meant to improve the Arab social dialogue and handle challenges faced by the Arab and international labour markets.
Also, the president expressed hope the recommendations of the conference would address the interests of the business owners and ensure rights of the laborers alongside providing a friendly working environment for them.
