Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gave directives to promote efforts for generating green hydrogen in light of the growing value-added of green hydrogen projects.
The President also gave directives to continue the implementation of national plans related to enhancing the role of renewable energy and magnifying its value with an aim to diversify energy supply sources, on which industrial, agricultural and urban development depends in Egypt.
Sisi made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
During the meeting, Shaker reviewed the progress realized so far in a number of projects in the electricity sector, especially those relying on wind and solar energy, in cooperation with foreign partners.
This falls within the framework of Egypt’s strategy for integrated and sustainable energy that aims to get renewable energy to represent 42% of the electrical energy mix in Egypt by 2035.
Shaker also reviewed developments pertinent to drawing on international expertise in the field of generating green hydrogen using renewable energy, in accordance with the relevant national strategy.
