Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed to continue governance efforts for Nile water usage nationwide, especially through spreading modern irrigation systems.
This is a key element in the state strategy to rationalize water consumption and bolster the efficiency of water management, he said.
Sisi made the remarks on Saturday during a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Agriculture Minister Sayyed Quseir, Irrigation Minister Hani Sweilam, Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Hisham Sweifi and Director of the Armed Forces water department Maged Sayed.
The meeting tackled the ongoing efforts for managing water resources nationwide and plans for rationalizing water consumption, especially in projects for reclaiming lands in New Delta, East Owainat, Toshka and western Delta, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
The talks also tackled wheat planting season next month, he added.
