Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reviewed on Wednesday the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, along with a wide range of other health issues, during a meeting with Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs, Mohamed Awad Tageddine.
The president also reviewed progress on the National Project for the Development of Egyptian Families as well as the national project for the manufacture and collection of plasma derivatives.
Presidency Spokesman, Ambassador Bassam Radi, said discussions between the president and Tageddine also dwelt on national efforts to curb road accidents.
Tageddine briefed the president about the measures taken by the government to contain Covid-19, including through rolling out vaccines to people and equipping health facilities to treat infections around the nation.
The president highlighted, meanwhile, the importance of increasing awareness among ordinary people about preventive measures, Ambassador Radi said.
He added that the president also underscored the importance of full compliance with these measures, particularly in crowded places, including in government offices, the universities and schools, he added.
He noted that the president also issued instructions for reducing density in these places, along with applying prevention, hygiene and disinfection measures in them.
President Sisi also ordered the continuation of Covid-19 vaccine rollout to targeted classes and streamlining access to booster doses.
The president also ordered the provision of the necessary equipment to chest hospitals around Egypt, so that they can deal with Covid-19 infections, Ambassador Radi said.
Tageddine revealed, meanwhile, an increase in the number of equipped ambulances operating within the National Project for the Development of Egyptian Families.
An agreement, he said, was signed recently with Germany for the import of 500 such vehicles.
President Sisi called for preparing a comprehensive plan for the ideal operation of these vehicles on the road to using them in the best manner, Ambassador Radi said.
