Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday chaired a meeting that followed up the implementation of presidential directives on intensifying efforts to overcome the chronic obstacles and challenges facing the industrial sector, through comprehensive efforts with all state agencies engaged.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem el-Gazzar, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir, Commander of the Strategic Command Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled, who doubles as Supervisor of the Military Manufacturing, and Advisor to the President on Urban Planning, Presidency Spokesman Counsellor Ahmed Fahmy.
The president reviewed efforts to develop the Egyptian industry and ways to overcome the challenges facing this vital sector. The president was briefed on the key steps and measures being taken to streamline and automate the interlocked bureaucratic procedures in order to encourage existing and new industrial investments, as well as upgrading the management and governance systems of industrial establishments, in addition to, facilitating procedures for granting industrial licences.
Within the same framework, President Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Madbouli and Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir. The president reviewed and assessed efforts to benefit from the industrial complexes system. He also followed up the implementation of the targeted activities, making optimum use of them, Fahmy said.
President Sisi gave directives on the importance of maintaining efforts to expand the existing industrial production paths and establishing new ones, via tireless work to overcome the structural obstacles and challenges facing industrial investment.
The president also underlined the necessity of boosting the private sector’s role and contribution, and making utmost exploitation of the industrial zones and complexes. He called for establishing successful and sustainable entities to support the national economy and achieve comprehensive development, the spokesman said.
