CAIRO – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ordered the government to intensify efforts of promoting chances of attracting investments into the energy sector.
The move is meant to achieve goals of the sector and further capitalize on it in development efforts, added the president.
President Sisi also directed the government to boost government efforts to develop the management and operation system of Egypt’s Gas Distribution Network to secure sustainability of supplies of the electricity national grid and the industrial and service sectors.
He also directed the government to intensify work in ongoing projects in renewable energy to have different energy supplies resources and add new capabilities to the power grid, depending on state-of-the-art technologies.
The president’s remarks came at a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Electricity and Renewable energy Mahmoud Esmat and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi on Sunday.
Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shenawy said president Sisi was posted on the government’s action plan to provide needs of the electricity sector from petroleum products.
He was also briefed on efforts exerted by the government to increase local production of petroleum resources, added Shenawy.
The spokesman said the meeting also discussed ways of following up on a number of ongoing projects, topped by the executive situation of El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant.
The president directed the government to act to actively carry out different energy projects soon as a cornerstone of development in Egypt.
Additionally, he called for an assessment of the electrical interconnection project with Saudi Arabia.
