Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Saturday a phone call from his Brazilian counterpart Lula da Silva in which they discussed the deteriorating security and humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
They also discussed the ongoing military escalation in Gaza within Brazil’s current presidency of the United Nations Security Council.
The presidents agree on the importance of coordinating regional and international efforts to stop the escalation.
During the call, President Sisi reviewed the outcome of Egypt’s recent contacts with all parties to push forward towards settlement and provide secure and an urgent path for humanitarian aid to Gaza.
He also urged the international community to shoulder the responsibility toward the crisis.
