ECAIRO– President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed in a phone call on Thursday with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides the developments of the Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
During the phone call, an agreement was reached on the need to intensify international and regional efforts to stop the escalation in the Gaza Strip; as it is the current priority to avoid it taking on broader dimensions that increase the complexity of the situation, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
Sisi reviewed the outcomes of the intensive contacts by Egypt with various parties concerned in order to achieve a ceasefire and provide a safe and urgent access to humanitarian aid by residents of the Gaza Strip in light of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions there, the spokesman added.
They also discussed advancing the path of reviving the peace process, in addition to achieving a just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution, he noted.
