Egyptian President Abel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting on Wednesday with the Presidential Adviser for Health and Preventive Affairs Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, to follow up the executive situation of a host of the national health initiatives and the Covid pandemic, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
During the meeting, the presidential advisor offered a presentation on the epidemiological situation of coronavirus nationwide, noting that there is a remarkable decline in infections, and that symptoms are mildin most cases, Radi added.
President Sisi gave directives for carrying on with public awareness programmes and vaccination campaigns across the country as well as streamlining as access to third anti-Covid jabs.
President Sisi was briefed on the developments of the initiative aiming to end the waiting lists for surgeries of critical cases, and ordered the concerned officials to make optimum benefit of the available capacities at all institutions of the health care system, both of the Health Ministry and university hospitals, Spokesman Radi said.
The President also followed up the progress of the initiative on diagnosis and treatment of women’s tumors in addition to the latest developments in offering state of the art equipment, as well as efforts to prevent polio, Radi said.
The president directed that awareness campaigns be increased to ensure all newborns receive polio vaccination and the booster doses.
Meanwhile, Taj El-Din reviewed the executive situation of the national project for the collection and production of plasma derivatives. Sisi ordered the completion of establishment of collection centers all over the country in line with schedules, Ambassador Radi noted.
President Sisi was also offered an account of the executive situation of the medicine city, and the efforts to accomplish localisation of advanced pharmaceutical industries, particularly medicines that depend on using biotechnology, besides manufacturing raw materials, Radi said.
