Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said the call he launched a year ago to for National Dialogue came out of a solid belief that the nation owns the capabilities and potentials that offer it multiple alternatives to find paths for progress in all fields, political, economic and social.
Addressing the opening session of the National Dialogue yesterday though a televised statement, President Sisi that that Egypt also possesses the competent mentalities, sincere intentions, and the strong will, which place it at the forefront of other nations.
President Sisi stressed his support for the National Dialogue, vowing to “provide all the means to ensure its success and activate its outcomes within a framework of democracy and effective political practice.”
He called on the participants to work for the success of the dialogue and to find solutions to the nation’s challenges.
“I wish you success in this great patriotic duty,” the president said.
Sisi said he looks forward to participating in the final phases of the dialogue.
He said the dialogue aims at drawing the features of the New Republic, a modern democratic state, and to lay down a road map for a bright and promising future for children and grandchildren.
On a Ramadan Iftar banquet in April 2022, Sisi invited political parties, intellectuals, and experts to hold a National Dialogue to draw up a roadmap setting Egypt’s political and economic priorities to 2030.
Our dreams and aspirations make it inevitable for us to come together and line up for work, the president said.
Sisi noted that the rising challenges facing Egypt at all levels have boosted his will on the necessity of the National Dialogue, which he hopes will be comprehensive, effective and lively, open to all views and opinions, and conclude tangible and well-studied outcome on all issue and at all levels.
Since he launched the call for the National Dialogue a year ago, President Sisi has followed, closely and with great interest its preparations, and the creation of a favourable atmosphere for holding it, the president said. He stressed that ‘disagreement doesn’t damage amicability’. He also underlined that diversity, and difference in visions enhances the efficiency of the outputs.
President Sisi urged the interlocutors to exert utmost efforts to render the dialogue a success, and analyseproblems and issues, to find solutions and alternatives to them.
President Sisi emphasised his non-stop support for this dialogue to guarantee success in addition to activating its outcome within a framework of democracy and political practice.“I look forward – myself – to participating in its final stages,” the president said.
The opening session of the National Dialogue kicked off Cairo International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Nasr City with a broad-based and effective participation by representatives of all syndicates, political forces and NGOs.
The dialogue is set to include all segments of the society and will be attended by a large number of the country’s leading public figures and intellectuals.
